Welcome to Catherine Marshall's Page

Catherine Marshall

This year, I’ve made an exciting commitment to participate in Tour de Pink, a 220 mile bike ride to support young women with breast cancer. This year marks my fourth ride -- and the 20th anniversary of the Young Survival Coalition, the premiere organization dedicated to the critical issues unique to young women who are diagnosed with breast cancer.

I’ve known of the YSC almost since its inception when three young women who were told they were too young to have breast cancer. Frustrated by the lack of services available to young women with breast cancer, they met in the basement of a NYC apartment building and YSC was born. Their unfailing dedication to the survivors who have come after them – and the good work the YSC has done in their legacy and honor -- makes me want to do my part to make sure that no young woman has to face breast cancer alone.

220 miles are a lot of miles and the training is hard work. But it’s worth it. It’s one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. It lets me do something I love to help others. To help a survivor up a hill, to cheer on my friends, new and old, as they accomplish what they never thought they could do. I ride because the survivors who ride TdP inspire me to be just a little more thankful, try just a little bit harder, live just a little more fully. Most importantly, I ride to raise awareness that young women can –and do—get breast cancer.

So on September 28th, I’ll head to Long Island and join a roving community of survivors, caregivers and supporters to ride some of the routes I rode as a kid. But this time, with your support, I will be ensuring that no young woman faces breast cancer alone. For my 220 miles, I’m required to raise at least $3000 in donations. This cause is so important to me that I want to raise even more. I hope I can count on your support. Here’s how your generous donation can help.

· $25 could fund YSC materials at three healthcare providers’ offices.
· $100 could provide a Newly Diagnosed Navigator to six women when they need it most.
· $250 could allow us to train four survivors to serve as peer supporters.
· $500 could find a Young Empowered Survivor educational program
· $1200 could pay for two young women to travel to the YSC Summit, an annual conference for young woman affected by breast cancer and their co-survivors.

If you would like your contribution to be made in memory of a loved one, please send me their name and I will proudly honor them by adding their name to my jersey.

Any contribution is appreciated. Please click the Donate button to contribute.

Thank you in advance for your support. I truly appreciate your generosity.
