Welcome to Jennifer Stillman's Page

Jennifer Stillman

Every year from May to August, Facebook kindly reminds me of what my state of mind was in 2009 by sharing my Facebook memories with me. I was 38 years old, a mom to 2 boys ages 4 and 7 and I was newly diagnosed with breast cancer. My posts from back in 2009 were plagued by messages of waiting-waiting for biopsy results, waiting for genetic testing results, waiting for appointments with oncologists and plastic surgeons, waiting for a plan. My posts were also plagued with messages of uncertainty and fear. It was a raw time, a stripped down time with all my jagged edges on display.

It wasn't until after my first surgery (the first of many) on August 10, 2009 did I realize that I needed to heal not only physically but mentally and spiritually too. It was the beginning of me trying to adjust to a new normal. I hated seeing those scars every day, reminding me of what I had lost. But it was those jagged scars that connected me to Young Survival Coalition. Training for and riding in my first Tour de Pink (2010) helped me see that my physical body was still strong and able. YSC and Tour de Pink gave me a sense of belonging and taught me that I was still imperfectly perfect; scars, foobs (former boobs), hot flashes and all. YSC became my extended family.

So, here we are, 9 years later and once again, I am going to ride my bike over 200 miles and raise money to give back to YSC. Now in its 20th year, YSC is the premier organization providing supportive services and education resources for young women affected by breast cancer. They are only able to do this through donations. Your donation will go to ensure that no young woman faces breast cancer alone.

YSC Tour de Pink is much more than just a bike ride to me. It's a chance to honor fellow survivors and to remember those we have lost, raise awareness and support important programs for young women affected by breast cancer.

Thank you in advance for your support. I truly appreciate your generosity.

So proud of you, you inspire me everyday and I’m so grateful to call you one of my best friends. Wishing you smooth sailing, just take it a mile at at time and think how amazing you’ll feel when you’re done (and then have had a massage and cryo ??). Love you!
