As most of you know, I'm usuallly fundraising for the Avon 2 Day Walk to End Breast Cancer. Much to my disappointment, that event is no more. Then I stumbled upon the Tour de Pink, a three-day, 200 mile bike ride for breast cancer, and knew it was going to be my next challenge, especially because it benefits an organization that focuses on young survivors. I was a young mom when I was diagnosed and remember feeling like there was no one who could relate to what I was going through; all the other survivors I encountered were so much older. Fortunately another mom I knew connected me to a friend of hers who was a young survivor. Her support and advice was invaluable to me as I went through my journey.

I choose to do this now for the young mom I know who was diagnosed this past year, the even younger single woman who I just heard was recently diagnosed, the mom of three who was diagnosed with triple negative bc right after giving birth to her third child, the young colleague of mine who was diagnosed shortly before her wedding and returned home from her honeymoon to face bc surgery, my cousin’s wife and my dear friend's mom who were diagnosed as young women & lost their courageous battles this past year, and all the young people out there dealing with a cancer diagnoses. They need to know that they are not alone and have a place to go to get the support they need from other survivors who can relate to their ordeal. So I truly hope I can count on your support as I work to reach my fundraising goal.

Your donation will directly support Young Survival Coalition. YSC offers resources, connections and outreach so women feel supported, empowered and hopeful. YSC is the only national nonprofit that solely focuses on serving young women under the age of 40 affected by breast cancer. YSC serves over 8,000 women each year with support and education to be their best health advocate throughout all stages of breast cancer diagnosis, treatment, and long-term survivorship.

Cancer can be a very isolating disease, and especially so for a young woman who may still be finishing their education, starting a career, and building her romantic and family life. YSC's supportive services include: in-person support groups around the country, online video support groups, one-on-one peer mentoring, creation and distribution of free educational materials for survivors, co-survivors and healthcare providers, a training program for survivors to amplify the need for expanded research and advocacy, and an annual conference called the YSC Summit. Read more about YSC here: youngsurvival.org

You can view YSC's audited financials and annual reports online here: youngsurvival.org/who-we-are/financial-information

How will your donation help?

$25 could fund YSC materials at three healthcare providers' offices.
$100 could provide a Newly Diagnosed Navigator to six women when they need it most.
$250 could allow us to train four survivors to serve as a peer supporters.
$500 could fund a survivor advocate in our RISE training program
$1,200 could pay for two young women to travel to the YSC Summit, an annual conference for young women affected by breast cancer and their co-survivors.

Any amount helps!

Thank you in advance for your support. I truly appreciate your generosity.
Love, Barbara
