Ok, MORE ABOUT TEAM METATHRIVER...

Do you know what it means to be Metastatic? Metastatic is a term used to describe any cancer that has spread beyond the original site. My name is Lindsay Gafford, I'm the captain of Team MetaThriver and I started this team after my OWN metastatic diagnosis to raise awareness for the unique challenges that women with a Stage IV diagnosis go through. Some days I feel like a Thriver, somedays I feel more like a survivor, and sometimes I don't know what I feel. It's a complicated diagnosis because I'll never truly be 'post-treatment'. I'll be a cancer patient for the rest of my life.

Young women with cancer face different issues. Relationship challenges, fertility and family planning complications, sexual disfunction, depression, anxiety...the list goes on. We face our mortality every. single. day.

My team this year is made up of fellow survivor, Tina Fasano, whom I met at a YSC face-to-face group, her sister Jamie Carella, my cousin Kate Seifert, and my childhood friend, Kristen Klauda. We are each taking on this challenge for our own reasons. I encourage you to click on each of their pages to read about their reason for riding.

There are more than 250,000 survivors who were diagnosed with breast cancer before age 40 living in the U.S. today. They are navigating an already permanently altered life after cancer now compounded by COVID-19.
We have made the exciting decision to participate as a team in YSC Virtual Tour de Pink this year to raise funds to support them through the Young Survival Coalition (YSC).
We each have our own reasons for joining in this effort, but we are all committed to supporting Young Survival Coalition. YSC is the largest nonprofit dedicated exclusively to young adults diagnosed with breast cancer age 40 and under and their co-survivor support networks. Through educational resources and programming, annual conferences, and local and online support networks, YSC ensures no young adult faces breast cancer alone. For more information, visit youngsurvival.org.
You can view YSC’s audited financials and annual reports online here: youngsurvival.org/who-we-are/financial-information
We have set our goals high! Because we are working as a team, with your help, we know that we can do it. Please support us today.
Thank you in advance for your support.
