Why I Ride?

Pablo Colon

When Erin was diagnosed with breast cancer she was 32. We were dating and she'd just lost her mom to breast cancer a few months earlier. YSC was a huge resource for us as Erin underwent treatment and even today.

Every year over 14,000 young women are diagnosed with breast cancer. Cancers in young women are often more aggressive and young women have different issues to contend with. YSC provides support and helps young women navigate the different issues they face.

In 2011, Erin and I participated as one-day riders in our first Tour de Pink (TdP) as a way to give back to the organization that helped us so much.
The next year, I rode all three days, but Erin had to sit that one out since she was pregnant with our first daughter, Dalia. I've ridden each year since and we will now have our second daughter Logan on the sidelines along with Dalia to cheer us on. All of that is possible because of YSC.

Today, Erin has been in remission for 9 years and our TdP team, “I Ride 4 Her” has raised over $365,000 to make sure no young women faces breast cancer alone. Tour de Pink is really an extended family for us. We have this terrible disease in common that’s affected us all, but we’ve all come out on the other side of it stronger and eager to share our experiences with each other. My wife and teammates inspire me every day.

I hope you will consider donating to this amazing organization.
