Route

Day 1: Northwest Princeton Circuit (66 or 100 miles, rolling hills)
The 2019 East ride starts at our hotel in Princeton, NJ and cycles west on beautiful roads with plentiful colorful foliage to New Hope, PA. Here, the river crossing overlooks the ferry route used by stage coaches in 1750, and riders will see Goat Hill which George Washington used to monitor the British movements. We visit New Hope, a quaint, artsy town and then head north along the Delaware River to Stockton, crossing back to NJ.

Riders will see the historic Stockton Inn, where Broadway notables and famous authors would meet. Then we cycle a pleasant journey along Wickecheoke Creek, skirting around the Sourland Mountains, and then through Rocky Hill to the Princeton Marriott.

Metric riders (66 miles) will finish here at the hotel, while century riders (100 miles) use the hotel as a rest stop. The century riders will then travel north along the Millstone Canal that saw a lot of action during the Revolution. The British foraged in this area that we will explore as we head east toward New Brunswick where the redcoats encamped. Turning to home we pass through Deans, Dayton and Plainsboro (Remember Dr. House?) before retiring for the day.

Day 2: South Princeton Circuit (64 miles, mostly flat)
Saturday’s route features some historical sites such as the Martian landing in 1938 and Roosevelt, NJ. This day will define why New Jersey is called "The Garden State" as farmlands are plentiful.

Day 3: Princeton to Jersey Shore (46 miles, flat)
Day 3 will be the easiest day, promising a new record---negative climbing. The amount of downhill will exceed any bumps in the road making it the first downhill day in TdP history. We finish at the Atlantic Ocean (Point Pleasant Beach) for the grand party and ocean dip, at Jenkinson's Inlet.

Ride totals: 218 miles. 6,500 feet elevation
