Tour de Pink #3 - 2018!

Tanya Fleege

Welcome family, friends and friends of friends to my YSC Tour de Pink Fundraising page for 2018! I have once again committed to ride 200+ miles over 3 days in this year's TDP, which will be my third. I'll be riding again with the amazing Team Why We Ride. The picture above is our team at last year's Tour de Pink. I'm grateful that you've taken a moment of your time to visit my page and learn more about YSC and TDP, and why I'm so committed to this event.

Why do I ride in Tour de Pink?
I learned about TDP from my friend Christine Malloy, who is now one of the captains of TWWR. The first year, I joined somewhat last minute to take someone else's spot who was no longer able to attend. Honestly I agreed to ride partly because Christine had been pressuring me to do it, and I figured hey I like to ride my bike so why not. I had no idea I would walk away from that first TDP with such a different perspective on so many things. First and foremost, I left feeling absolutely sure that I would be back to ride again (and I did). I left in awe of the survivors (like my training bestie and roomie Aimee) who have battled and defeated this disease and are riding strong giving back to YSC. I left with so much respect for the families who lost their beloved mothers, sisters, daughters, aunts, cousins, friends to breast cancer and believe so much in what YSC does that they come back every year in honor of their loved ones. And finally, I left with dozens of new friends, who each have their own inspiring reasons why they ride. I returned in 2017 with an even greater appreciation and dedication to supporting YSC. I also ride in memory of many family members and friends who have battled breast cancer, especially my husband's late mother, Jean Fleege who lost her battle with this disease at age 44.

What does Tour de Pink acheive?
The goal of TDP is to raise money to fund YSC programs, which include education, advocacy and supportive services. I have seen first hand how YSC has been able to significantly impact the lives of young women with breast cancer and breast cancer survivors, and I cannot stress enough that YSC is an incredible organization that serves young women with breast cancer in their most difficult and vulnerable times, and your donation dollars really could not go to a better cause. Rather than going into a large pool of funds that is distributed for research, your donation goes directly to these programs and directly to help women with breast cancer where it is needed most. I hope you will consider donating toward our fundraising goal. Each rider must raise a minimum of $3000 to ride in TDP, but I hope to surpass that again this year with your help! Any amount large or small helps incredibly! Please if you have time, explore the Tour de Pink and YSC sites to learn more about this amazing organization.

If you are not able to make a monetary donation, there are still many ways you can help and support this cause! Please consider sharing my page on your social media or mentioning it to others that may be interested. And I always greatly appreciate words of support and encouragement during the ride!

If you can make a donation, it will go to support Young Survival Coalition and ensure that no young woman faces breast cancer alone. YSC is the premier organization providing supportive services and education resources for young women affected by breast cancer.

How will your donation help?

$25 could fund YSC materials at three healthcare providers’ offices.
$100 could provide a Newly Diagnosed Navigator to six women when they need it most.
$250 could allow us to train four survivors to serve as a peer supporters.
$500 could fund a Young Empowered Survivor (YES) educational program.
$1,200 could pay for two young women to travel to the YSC Summit, an annual conference for young women affected by breast cancer and their co-survivors.

Any amount helps!

Thank you in advance for your support. I truly appreciate your generosity.
